FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 : Group B: England thrash Wales 3-0 while USA defeat Iran 1-0


All four teams of Group B were in action for last stage matches on November 30. 2022. England took on Wales in Ahmad Ali Stadium. Iran took on the UDA. Speaking forms, England looking for a win to make comfortable entry to the knockout round of a ongoing FIFA World Cup.

All eyes were on the other clash between the Iran and the USA. Both teams were set for a battle. The winner of the clash was bound to get qualified in the next round of the FIFA World Cup tournament. Wales were looking for a win before making an exit from the World Cup.

England and USA qualified for Round of 16 in FIFA World Cup 2022

USA VS IRAN 1-0
The USA were pushing hard to score early goal. Iranian defenders were rock solid at the back as the USA players were unable to break in final third. Timothy Wreah had a shot in 28th minute. His effort ended at hands of the Iran goalkeeper. But, in the 38th minute, the USA managed opener thru Christian Pulisic.

Team USA Christian Pulisic scored and injured himself in one glorious and painful moment as the United States recorded 1-0 victory over Iran in do-or-die game. Pulisic was substituted out at halftime, and his availability for America's next match was not known. The United States will play round of 16 against the Netherlands at 10am on Saturday.

Making knockout play was a major achievement for the United States which failed to qualify for the 2018 tournament in Russia. The first half ended 1- for the USA. The second half Josh Sargent managed shot from tight angle in 47th minute. Iran keeper easily managed to deny from doubling lead. The USA managed to hold the lead and they win match with the score of 1-0.

ENGLAND VS WALES 3-0
England looked brighter than Wales since the kickoff. Marcus Rashford had a shot in 10th minute. Danny Ward was alert he denied him with solid save. In 38th minute, Phil Foden's effort went over crossbar. Nothing happened from either side as first half ended 0-0.

In second half, England began game with more intensity. Rashford opened the scoring with direct free kick from 20 yards out in 50th minute. Phil Foden scored second goal in 51st minute.

Wales first ever World Cup campaign in almost 64 years ended defeat as England set to face Senegal in round of 16 encounters. England came out all guns in the second half and found the back of net through Manchester United star Marcus Rashford in 50th minute of the game. Rashford displayed his football skills in 68th minute as he went past a group of Welish defenders to score the second goal of the match, piling the agony for Wales. Then, Rashford scored England’s third goal in the 68th minute while Kevin Phillips came up with a beautiful ball for him. Wales tried to score but no such attacks were found as the game ended 3-0 in favor of England.
