Indian Legend Jhulan Goswami reveals “one regret” as he confirms retirement.


Indian legend officially confirmed her international retirement from the cricket game after 20 years career.

In the 20 years, the veteran pacer has made a name for herself as one of the finest player in the cricket field. She is the fast bowling in women’s cricket in India.

Jhulan Nishit Goswami was born on November 25, 1982. She plays the right arm fast bowler and the right-handed batter. She is the one of the fastest female bowlers of all time. She played more than 204 ODI matches before the retirement from international cricket this year of 2022, taking 255 wickets and holds the record for taking the most number of wickets in the Women's One Day International Cricket.

Goswami was born to a middle class family in the district of West Bengal. She took up cricket sport at the age of 15 and she was a previously football fan. Goswami began to take interest in cricket when she watched the 1992 Cricket World Cup on TV. She took interest in the sports after watching Australian batter Belinda Clark in the 1997 Women’s Cricket World Cup.

At the age of 19 she made her international debut in 2022 in a one-day International Match against the England in Chennai. Goswami along with Mithali Raj guided Indian Women’s Cricket team to first test series win in England in 2006-2007 season.

She has a 40 Test wickets in her name in 10 matches. Overall she has 271 international wickets in total of 223 games and she scored 1593 runs with three 50s. Jhulan became the first woman cricketer to reach 200 wickets in one day cricket.

She was appointed as a bowling consultant for India Women’s International Cricket Team under the head coach Ramesh Powar. She is playing now as a player-coach in Indian Team.

Jhulan Goswami missed the game through injuries and in a crunch game, India missed the services of the talisman. In the press conference, Jhulan Goswami said that recent recurring injuries were the main reason to call it a day.

“As of now, I haven’t decided because so far, the Women’s IPL has not been officially announced. We are hopeful that it might come in the new coming season. Let’s wait for the official announcement and then I will decide. At this moment, I am ending my career in International Cricket. I have enjoyed every time.”
