First time in the IFMA event, An Indian is standing at the Metal Podium after winning a fight. It was a bronze medal for the nation in the Elite Category. He defeated Jhao Cyun Ciou of Chinese Taipei.
Ashish Sethi was born in Haryana it is a state located in north part of India. He was like a normal Indian kids growing up, he used to play cricket and also other games, then in turn he helped himself to nurture the athlete inside him.
When the day he found out about WWE. The young Ashish was the avid fan of Undertaker and he was watching and get the idea that Undertaker was really a real fighter. It was the discovery of the Mixed Martial Arts and UFC made him to think that this would be him otherwise.
Ashish took the kickboxing as the first step to his journey. There is a gym near his home that gave him the training he required. Sethi joining One Punch MMA in Mumbai, India under Coach Balkrishna Shetty to trained and improve his transition in Muay-Thai. He was also go to Thailand to enhanced his skill.
At the age of 23, Ashish win in the National Championship in Kickboxing. After a year he won National Level Competition in Muay-Thai and still shining in the sport Wushu. It was started taking the combat sports and make fun by exercising and also the weight loss that will benefit him.
THE FIRST INDIAN TO WIN FIGHT IN IFMA EVENT :
2019 is the year of career change of Ashish Sethi. He win a bronze medal in Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships which turn and made him the first Indian to won in an prestigious IFMA event. He defeated Jhao Ciou of Taipei and Ahsan Shahzad of Pakistan. The moment was cherish able to him when he come back to his country India with medal all of his Family, and friends welcome him and boost also his confidence in Muay-Thai.
FUTURE PLANS:
“The biggest motivation is to play for your country and represent your country at the biggest stage and I hope to bring laurels to the country” he concluded.
