NBA DRAFT 2022 LOS ANGELES LAKERS BY 11IC BLOG

The Los Angeles Lakers spent weeks to take lead to the NBA Draft trying to their way to the second round, Thursday they succeeded by swiping No.35 pick away from Orlando Magic. Now they pick to select Michigan State wing, Max Christie.

Max Christie born on Feb 10, 2003. He played college basketball on the Michigan State Spartans on Big Ten Conference. He was on of the top shooting guards in the 2021 class.

On his College career Christie scored in season high 21 points win against Nebraska with the score of 79-67. As a freshman his average was 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in the game and was named to Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

On his National team career, Christie represented the United States on the 2019 FIBA Under 16-Americas Championship in the Brazil. He averaged 9.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in the game and helped his team win the gold medal.

Christie made his name Spartan with his defense, with a wingspan of 6-9 he was able to defend multiple perimeter position with speed and athleticism. After season No.1 ranked defense fell all way down to No. 21. Christie need to improve on offense. Scoring 9.3 points per game is forgivable, but LA Lakers need their role players to hit 3 pointers position. 31.7 attempts at the Michigan State, 82.4 free throw percentage suggest that there is no time to improve but his success as in Lakers team can improve him as a shooter.

Lakers have one of the best scouting in the NBA. They found Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma at the end of first round. The Lakers still have a plenty of holes in the roster they’ll need to fill but if things in right, Max Christie certainly get some minutes, despite needing plenty development time.
