The Charlotte Hornets selected the centers Mark Williams and Jalen Duren with 13th and 15th overall picks in the NBA DRAFT 2022. The team then it is traded the rights to Jalen Duren in the New York Knicks in exchange for the Nuggets’ 2023 first round of the draft pick.

He committed playing in Duke, choosing the Blue Devils over the UCLA and Michigan after taking official visit on the three schools. In his college season Williams was named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award in preseason list. Williams also named as ACC Defensive Player of the Year as Third Team All-ACC as sophomore, he was scored 11.2 points, 7..4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. On April 18, 2022 Williams declared on the NBA Draft 2022, for remaining his college eligibility.
