As National Basketball Association awards continues, the award for this seasons top rookie has been selected. The forward Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors has won the 2022 Rookie of the Year award.
Barnes received 378 points (48 first-place votes) from a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. Cleveland Cavaliers forward-center Evan Mobley finished in second place with 363 points (43 first-place votes). The 15-point difference between the first- and second-place finishers marks the smallest margin in NBA Rookie of the Year balloting under the current voting format, which began with the 2002-03 season.
Toronto pick Barnes with the No.4 on the overall selection in 2021 draft, choosing the Florida State product over Gonzaga Jalen Suggs. Barnes been rewarded in the Raptors choice, starting 74 games for and averaging 15.3 points, 3.5 assists per game and 7.5 rebounds.
